GOT STENCILS?

GOT STENCILS? Why, yes we do!

Love sewing, quilting, working with fabric?  Now you can wear your feelings to let everyone know.  We have added stencils to our inventory just in time for the 2016 trade show circuit.  All of our stencil creations are original, and we offer three sizes for our designs to fit within a 4"x 4", 8"x 8", or 12" x 12" block. Imagine the projects these custom stencils could inspire.  The large 12"x 12" stencil is a perfect size to use for t-shirts, adding stenciled patterns to the walls of your home, and more.  Additionally, the smaller sizes are just right for adding color to quilt blocks.  And perhaps best of all, we do take special order requests from individuals or from guilds!  Imagine your quilt guild's logo designed as a stencil to personalize name tags, bags, quilts, etc.  There is a one time designer/set up fee of $25.  Our pre-cut stencils are priced according to size from small 4"x 4" - $3.99, medium 8"x 8" - $7.99, to large 12"x 12" - $11.99.  We offer discount prices for bulk orders

Be sure to check the 2016 show schedule on our website.  We do have an online store if you cannot make it to one of our shows, but the stencils are SO new to our repertoire that it may be a few weeks before they are added.  If you would like to know more about the designs we have available, or if you would like to place an order for a special project, please contact us using this email address: mygarageart@gmail.com

I usually use Folk Art Fabric Paint and a non-porous sponge for stenciling onto fabric.  For best results, use an adhesive spray to secure the stencil to fabric.  Have fun!

Thread Sketchings

Kudos go out to the Catawba Quilters' Guild and to the Misty Mountain Quilters' Guild for putting on such great shows these last 2 weekends.  We had success at each show, thanks to their hard work and to our awesome customers!!

Customers - Jim has been designing those suggestions you came looking to buy.  Email mygarageart@gmail.com for your design purchases!  Thanks go out to those customers who have already purchased their custom orders and to those who gave high reviews on Square-Up!

Some customers have asked about our stoneware coasters and buttons - oh I still make those - just email mygarageart@gmail.com for them.  If you are unsure of our variety, just go to our website to view the majority of phrases and sizes.  Thank you to customers who are doing that to place their stoneware orders.  Remember, our buttons are machine washable/dryable - no need to take them off your fiber art ahead of time.

The photo shows Jim adding color to one of his black-line stitchings.  He is very willing to do demonstrations on how he uses the Derwents Inktense products.  We also have some samples of our painted fabric for you touch!!  We use Derwent Inktense products and Folk Art Fabric Paints.  The Derwents Inktense products are priced on our website.  Both products are consumer-pocketbook friendly and are excellent for permanently adding color to your fiber arts.

As you can see in the photo, Jim also has one of his digital embroidery machines with him at the shows now.  He is able to quickly replenish his designs as they sell down.  His designs at the shows are 8x8 and 4x4 inches.  For other sizes, please email Jim at mygarageart@gmail.com.  We do carry a variety of sizes, that we have each painted, to the shows.

Hand embroiderers - we do sell our black-line designs to you, as well.  You will notice that we carry our designs printed on paper that is traceable and light-box friendly.  Thank you to those customers who bought those butterfly patterns.  We hope you will send us photos of your finished fiber art works.

Wow - much has happened in a month for My Garage Art, Jim and Diane Snell!

Jim will soon have the newly released Alliance Embroidery Machine and is so excited to put his designs on cuffs, collar points, and pockets.  This will be the machine he takes to shows, as well.  So if you are at a show, put in your embroidery orders for his designs!!  Special requests must be placed ahead of time.

As you will notice on the website, I am requesting that you preorder your ceramic coasters.  I am still handling them but I am also painting fabric for Jim.  Buttons and beads are no problem to do along with the painting, but the coasters need more lead-time.

Come see My Garage Art (Jim will be demonstrating his fabric paint techniques) at the Hickory Metro Convention Center for the Catawba Valley Quilters' Guild Friday/Saturday, Oct. 16-17.  Those of you who have already put in your orders, remember to stop in and get them.

The Misty Mountain Quilters' Guild Quilt Fest 2015 will follow on Oct. 23-24, then the Pieceful Hearts Quilt Guild of the CSRA will be Nov 6-7.  My Garage Art is excited to be returning to these 2 shows and looks forward to seeing all our customer friends.

See you soon!

Thank you Quilters Gallery for a wonderful show July 24-25 in Columbia, SC.  We are excited to vend with you in 2016!  Returning customers and new friends are always encouraging.  Remember, we are just an e-mail away from helping our customers.

Jim is busy designing his thread art for your orders, as well as providing you with the following mediums:  Derwent Inktense Pencils and Blocks (click to view prices on website) and Folk Art Fabric Paints.  Both Inktense and Folk Art Fabric Paint provide excellent permanent color to your fiber arts.  Being the artist of the biz, Jim is not afraid to use water.  I, however, use the aloe vera clear gel.  Demonstrations and tutorials gladly keep him busy at shows.

Speaking of demo's - if your guild wants to schedule a visit, separate from a nearby show, just e-mail Jim.

My Garage Art will be in Anderson, SC for the A Celebration of Quilts on August 21-23. Find us in booth #36!

Let us hear from you!

June Kuddos

The ECQG show was such a success ... "thank you" to the members and customers who helped make it so!!!

Jim now has more Inktense pencils and blocks in stock.  Feel free to email the biz (mygarageart@gmail.com) for information about those items, as well as other items you saw at the show.  As you know, his prices can't be beat!!

The CHOA cancer fighters say "thank you" to all who participated in the quilt panels.  You read last year's letter and are now a part of what will become the 2015 letter from CHOA.  At this time, I only have the 2 panels available at the shows we do in Georgia.  I am happy to provide these panels to any customer,  but the money will only be donated to CHOA.

Knitters who will attend the July show in Columbia - we will have 2 wonderful kits for you to purchase, as well as coasters for you to enjoy using while you knit.

Thank you for your patience while waiting for this blog.  After the May Blog, I found out I needed another surgery, while preparing for the big June show.   The show was  a success and surgery, almost a week ago, was too.  (4th surgery above the shoulders in 10 years - hahaha)

Again, please let me hear back from you with tips and suggestions.  Thanks for joining me today!

Stilettos - for fiber artists

We will debut our new stilettos at the East Cobb Quilt Show during the June 11-13, 2015 show!!  Stilettos - these are NOT spiked high-heels.  (LOL)

The show will be at a new location this year - on one level and in one VERY large room: see directions below.

Kudos to the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum in Carrollton, GA - much of our stoneware items are on sale there to support the Museum.  We are currently working on coasters to have the museum's logo.

We incorporating our small buttons with hand-dyed wool yarns in 2 knit kits designed by Tinking Turtle.  Tinking Turtle and Dragonfly Fibers are well-known among the knitting artisans so we are very excited to be a part of their world.  The Kits will make their debut by us at the East Cobb Quilt Show in June!!

Disclaimer - I am new at this blogging thing so feel free to give advice/comments/unsubscribe tips.  I plan to do a blog once a month so perhaps you won't be bored too often! L0L
